| 'Glitz & Glamour' was the theme of the Launch Party for the Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show. Guests mingled, exchanged industry news, enjoyed entertainment and toasted to a successful future for the fair. |
| A valuable seminar which drew an interested audience yesterday was highlighting product Trends in Pearls and Pearling, presented by Kenneth Scarratt, Managing Director, GIA South East Asia. |

| The Japan Pavilion Jewelry Presentation and Parade in Hall 10 and 11 Foyer was an opportunity for buyers to see some wonderful pieces of jewellery as well as enjoy the hospitality for which the Japanese are known. |
|
| Socialising is one of the most pleasant aspects of doing business and the Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem and Pearl Show is the perfect environment for catching up with industry peers. Yesterday there was a Networking Reception, supported by Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) in the Hall 10 and 11 Foyer. |

 “Jirawala Diam specialises in the sale of fancy colour diamonds and we focus on stones of at least one carat in size. Many young consumers are fond of fancy colour stones that are also being treated as a good tool for investment. We are taking advantage of the Hong Kong fair to promote our diamonds to international buyers. It is a good idea to spin off the HKTDC Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show as a separate fair. We are particularly keen to establish business relationship with buyers from Chinese mainland and Taiwan where jewellery demand continues to grow. We are planning to develop our own jewellery collections over the next 12 months and are looking for the right partners to make jewellery items for us. If our jewellery collections are launched successfully, we will also participate in the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show to increase our profile.”

 “A.S. Diamonds is one of the leading manufacturers and wholesalers of top quality diamonds with a global presence. We provide super high-end and ideal cut stones with a size ranging from one to 20 carats. We boast a big inventory with a great variety for customers to choose from. In addition to round shape, we have diamonds available in various fancy shapes. We are showcasing our extraordinary diamonds in Hall 9 of the exhibition venue. The traffic has been very good and we have met with both existing and new customers. We’ve generated some good business through the exhibition. AsiaWorld-Expo provides more space for exhibitors making the fair even better. We have made the most out of it.”

 “Jules Perrier is a family-run business in operation since 1956. We are engaged in design, manufacturing, wholesaling and retailing businesses for jewellery items. At present, we operate five retail stores in Canada. The Hong Kong fair is a very good show that offers an excellent alternative channel for our sourcing. I have found three new suppliers from Hong Kong for the provision of diamonds of up to one carat in size, including sapphire, ruby and emerald. If everything goes well with the negotiation, the initial orders will total about US$50,000 to US$60,000. I am also looking for suppliers of larger-sized good quality colour stones. This fair is huge. I am especially happy to see so many exhibitors with a great variety of diamonds. I will definitely come again next year and look for more bigger pieces for our customers.”

 “Established in 1980, Jubitom makes and sells a wide range of jewellery items. We currently operate a chain of 24 retail stores across Poland selling various watches and jewellery products. I am here looking for good quality diamonds at competitive prices. The business matching services provided by HKTDC proved to be successful and I’ve identified two exhibitors from Hong Kong and Israel for the supply of diamonds mainly pieces between a half and two carats in size. Talks are still underway and we will examine the quality of diamonds before placing orders. It is premature to put an estimate on the amount of orders. We are keen to establish a long-term business relationship with trusted suppliers. This fair can really help us achieve the goal. Everything is perfect here with superior and efficient services. The shuttle bus service between the city centre and AsiaWorld-Expo makes it so easy and convenient to visit the exhibition.”

More sourcing opportunities are available at the concurrent fair: the 31st HKTDC Hong Kong International Jewellery Show opens today. A free shuttle bus service runs between Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre and AsiaWorld-Expo during the fairs.
