Hear What Buyers Say |
 |
My company publishes the official magazine of the Jewellers & Watchmakers Association of New Zealand, and I am here with over 50 of the association’s members – the biggest delegation at the fair this year. They include manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers, running from fine jewellery to costume jewellery. The jewellery market is improving in New Zealand and the outlook for the rest of this year is very positive. This is such a large show that you can source any kind of jewellery product here. The retailers are looking for a variety of items, including pearls because Asia is well known for them and there is a good choice here, while the manufacturers are seeking to forge partnerships with Chinese mainland manufacturers. One member wants to source packaging – and this really needs to be done face to face so the fair is very appropriate for them. The huge volume of this event makes it a one-stop shop for everything in the jewellery business. Everybody in the delegation is extremely impressed with the support given to them by HKTDC. There are many staff around to offer help. The new exhibitor scanner feature is amazing – it is a world-beating first for a trade show!
Debbie Whiting, Publisher, InkLink Publications, New Zealand
We are a jewellery wholesaler supplying all kinds of fine jewellery to 10,000 shops operated by more than 2500 companies in Russia and its neighbouring countries. It is my first time visiting the show. It’s the largest jewellery show I’ve ever visited. It is a big and nice show with so many suppliers all under one roof. I came here to source silver, cubic zirconia, gold and diamond jewellery. I’ve already met some good suppliers from Hong Kong and Thailand on the first day of the show. And I am going to place
US$1-2 million worth of orders here.

We’ve been attending this show for the past five years. Our company was founded in 1999; we operate three factories in India, handling everything from rough to polished diamonds and fine jewellery targeting all sectors of the market. Our major customer base is in the US, along with Australia and the Middle East and some in Europe. We use this fair to a great extent to introduce our new designs to our regular customers, some of whom we first encountered at this show. We can also find new buyers – for example, we have seen quite a few visitors from Russia, and we would like to expand there. The service and facilities at this event are good. It attracts many customers from all over the globe – it is a hub of the industry.
Sachin Gurav, Business Development Manager, Patdiam Jewellery Pvt Ltd., India
We were established about 30 years ago, and have a presence in London’s New Bond Street and in Monaco. We specialise in antique and estate jewellery – what we call ‘underrated art forms’. Every single piece we sell is unique and our clients are collectors from all over the world who appreciate this type of item. This is our first time at this fair, but we have done business in Hong Kong before and have always been very successful. We have already sold a number of pieces even on the first day of the fair. We’ve seen a lot of customers from Chinese mainland. The show is very well organized and we will return next year.
