HKTDC Hong Kong International Jewellery Show celebrates emerging design talents and salutes creativity. As a leader in fine jewellery production, with exports valued at over US$6.9 billion in 2015, Hong Kong is always looking for new talents to renew and reinvigorate the jewellery industry. Various jewellery award presentation ceremonies were held on Day 1 of the Jewellery Show, provided an outstanding opportunity to showcase significant achievements and talents in jewellery design. |

| The 16th Chuk Kam Jewellery Design Competition 2016 aims to promote creativity, to raise the standard of craftsmanship and to stimulate market demand for Chuk Kam jewellery. Organised by the Hong Kong Jewellers’ & Goldsmiths’ Association and sponsored by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and World Gold Council, the Competition culminated with an award presentation ceremony full of excitments and encouragements. |

 “In business for almost 60 years, Graziella specialises in 18k gold jewellery and other product lines in diamonds and sterling silver which are all made in Italy. Ten years ago, we started to produce leather handbags and watches to match with our jewellery products to create a total look. This is our eighth time participating in the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show. It is a trading hub which gathers jewellery buyers from around the world to do business. We have made a lot of important contacts through the show. It is one of the most outstanding shows that we cannot afford to miss. In the first three hours of the show, we met with several new customers from the Chinese mainland who are interested in buying our 18k gold jewellery.”

 “Mannaqueen produces handmade jewellery with pearls, silver, brass, wood and horn. In the past, we mainly produced 24k gold-plated jewellery, but we have expanded our product range to 925 sterling silver jewellery recently. Apart from exporting to Asia and Europe, we also operate jewellery stores in Indonesia, France and the Netherlands. With the support from the Ministry of Trade of Indonesia, we are exhibiting at the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show for the first time to showcase our unique designs which reflect the Indonesian culture. As it is an international jewellery show, it will help us expand into new markets like the Middle East and increase our presence in Asia and Europe. On the first day of the show, many buyers from places such as Belgium, the Chinese mainland and Russia visited our booth and made enquiries about our designs which are unusual in the market.”

 “We are an importer, exporter and e-tailer of silver and gold jewellery and watches in Poland. Our online sales grew by 25% year-on-year in 2015 as more and more Polish consumers like to buy jewellery online. This is my second visit to the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show to look for silver jewellery decorated with rubies, sapphires, emeralds or cubic zirconia. I found around 10 potential suppliers from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, India and Thailand which offer good prices. I am planning to place trial orders worth USD3,000 to 5,000 at the show. I am highly impressed with the size of the show and the variety, quality and design of jewellery products on offer. Polish consumers like Oriental designs, so I am going to look for these designs at the show in the next few days.”

 “Dalian Friendship Shopping Center operates five department stores including four in Liaoning Province and one in Hebei Province. Our jewellery section offers all kinds of jewellery products such as diamond, gold, coloured gemstones, jade and pearls as well as loose stones. At this year’s Jewellery Show, I am particularly looking for finished products decorated with rubies, sapphires or pearls and loose stones. So far, I have found five to six potential suppliers mainly from Hong Kong. I have visited the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show for several times. It is a huge show bringing together a large number of exhibitors and offering a great variety of jewellery products. I will definitely come again.”

 “In business since 1982, Marina Jewerly Shop is one of the most well-known jewellery shops in Cambodia, selling fine jewellery and loose diamonds. We source products mainly from Hong Kong companies. This is our first time visiting the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show and the Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show. The Jewellery Show provides a great opportunity for us to see many interesting jewellery designs. The HKTDC Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem and Pearl Show located at the AsiaWorld-Expo showing a fabulous array of treasures such as can find diamonds, coloured gems, gemstones and pearls offered by reputable quality suppliers from around the world.
Buyers with validated admission badges of either the HKTDC Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show or Jewellery Show can use the same badge to visit the other concurrent Show. Complimentary shuttle bus is available between the two venues during the overlapping period (today and tomorrow).

 “The Tanzanite Pavilion organised by Tanzanite Foundation is making its debut at Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show this year. A total of eight companies have joined together here to showcase a great collection of tanzanite. This East African gemstone is gaining popularity, particularly among customers from the USA and the Chinese mainland. At the fair, our exhibitors have attracted a lot of interest and successfully struck deals with buyers from different places. Chinese mainland customers are especially keen on tanzanite. We are still gathering the information on the amount of business concluded. It looks very positive. Total orders made at the fair probably will be up to US$4 million or US$5 million. This is a good show. We anticipate to return next year with even more companies.”

Our business has been up and running since 2006, supplying various stones and minerals to clients according to their specific requirements. So far, I’ve got hold with at least 10 exhibitors for diamonds, pearls and gemstones this year, involving initial orders worth about US$20,000. Total orders can be up to US$100,000, depending on the progress of negotiation. I usually source stones and minerals through trade fairs. The Hong Kong fair is the best I’ve ever attended. The scale is huge and I can find what I want very efficiently here.”

 “My company was founded six years ago. I am the goldsmith and jewellery designer to work with clients and the craftsman to custom-made fine jewellery. This is my second-year visit to the fair. I am looking for various stones including aquamarines, pink tourmalines, champagne diamonds, 1-2 carat-sized white diamonds and sapphires in round shape. Successful deals were already made with three exhibitors from Thailand and Brazil, involving some stones and diamonds for about US$7,000. I expect to spend a further US$10,000-US$15,000 during the fair. The show is excellent, offering so much to see and buy. This is really the place to be for the sourcing of loose diamonds and colour stones.”
