In the distinguished presence of Lawrence Ma, Chairman, HKTDC Hong Kong International Jewellery Show 2016 and HKTDC Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show 2016 Organising Committee (third from right) and exhibitors, the world of diamond, gem and pearl came together yesterday to bask in the continued success of the Diamond, Gem and Pearl Show.
The parade in the Carat Party showcased the captivating masterpieces. The networking reception offered the industry players the opportunity to meet business contacts while promoting mutual robust opportunities in the fantastic environment and settings
“ALine specialises in the supply of fine gemstones with perfect cuts for exclusive jewellery lines. Our customers include world-famous jewellers and brands. We offer a wide range of gemstones include rubies, sapphires, spinels and tsavorites in different colours and sizes. We are now expanding our presence in Asia and that’s why we showcase our collections in Hong Kong. This is our third-year participation in Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show. Regular customers from Europe including France and the UK are visiting us here in Hong Kong this year. So far, we’ve also established contact with two new customers from Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland. While global demand has slowed in general, we are positive about the long-term prospect of business. The Hong Kong fair provides a good base for our development in Asia. The organiser offers good services. We will maintain our presence and keep on exhibiting here.” Alexander Leuenberger, CEO, ALine GmbH, Switzerland
“In business for more than 30 years, we provide fine rubies especially the bigger-sized ones from one to 20 carats. Our rubies are mainly sourced from Myanmar and Mozambique. Fine rubies are getting increasingly rare to find and their prices are going up. The buyers’ response at this year’s fair has been much better than our expectation. We’ve seen a steady stream of visitors and some of our rubies were already snapped up by buyers from Asia and Europe. The bigger-sized stones are particularly sought after. Some of the buyers are buying for investment purpose while some rubies are expected to be re-sold in the market. This fair is a good place to grow business. We’ve got another good show this year.” William Hakimi, President, A. Hakimi & Sons, USA
Hear What Buyers Say
“Established in 1969, Dhamani is one of the biggest jewellery companies based in UAE, operating 15 own shops and 75 franchise stores in the Middle East. Four of us have come to source diamonds, colour stones and pearls at the Diamond, Gem and Pearl Show. I focus on the pearl section and have already placed orders for cultured pearls worth US$50,000 in the first day of the exhibition. I am still looking around for more suppliers and total orders are expected to go up to US$100,000. My colleagues are sourcing diamonds and colour stones, and their orders will be much bigger. We are also visiting Hong Kong International Jewellery Show for jewellery mounting, packaging and display materials. Hong Kong is a great city. People are very nice and trustworthy. We enjoy coming here to do business.” James Joseph, Product Development Executive, Dhamani Jewels, UAE
“Temper strives to provide trendy and exceptional jewellery collections for customers in Poland and Europe. I am visiting the Hong Kong fair for the third time to see the latest trend and get something new and appealing. Natural stones like sapphires, opals and rubies are the main focus of interest. I’ve already spent US$3,000 for good quality stones that can go with our new jewellery designs. I expect to source more fine stones here and will visit Hong Kong International Jewellery Show for some finished products. Our customers are keen to get new jewellery styles. This Hong Kong fair is showcasing quality stones and new trends every year. We can always buy something good and interesting.” Beata Grzybkowska, Owner, Temper, Poland
