"This is our first time to organise an Australia pavilion for Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem and Pearl Show. Eleven companies from Australia have come along to promote an extensive range of Australian opals including black opals, boulder opals and crystal opals. We've received very positive responses. The buyers' feedback in the first day of exhibition was 50% above our expectations. There's strong demand especially for black opals because of their rarity. We've met many Chinese mainland customers who are looking for high-end loose opals from us. Some of our best opals have already been taken by buyers. This is a very successful exhibition. HKTDC staff has been very helpful. We hope to return next year with a bigger delegation."
Andrew Cody, Head of Australia Pavilion and Director, Cody Opal (Australia) Pty Ltd, Australia |

“This is our second-year participation in Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem and Pearl Show. The South African pavilion made its debut presence last year and we achieved very positive results. Our diamond producers met a lot of customers from Hong Kong, the Chinese mainland and other markets. That’s why some of them decided to come again. We have brought together 10 companies to promote South Africa’s diamonds this year. The fair is full of excitement and we’ve witnessed very good traffic again. I like the show. It is so big in scale and we can explore business opportunities in a very nice environment. This fair showcases many top-notched diamond suppliers and we are determined to work continuously to increase our competitiveness in the global marketplace.”
Futhi Zikalala Mvelase, Chief Executive Officer, State Diamond Trader, Republic of South Africa |

"In business since 1989, Shanghai Gems specialises in collecting and selling top quality natural pearls. Our pearls come from various places such as Indonesia, Myanmar, the Philippines, The Caribbean and Mexico. This is a great place to showcase different types of natural pearls and make more people understand their values. The responses have been very good. In additional to existing customers, we've got some new buyers from the Chinese mainland and Japan. Mainland customers are especially interested in natural pearls and they are looking for the top-grade ones. I expect to see more potential for growth in the Chinese mainland market."

“Lúcere is a jewellery house in Peru selling a great variety of 18k gold and platinum jewellery under our own brand Murguia Joyeria. In business for more than 100 years, we also distribute international watch and jewellery brands. I am visiting this fair for the first time. There’s so much to see here such as loose stones in different cutting and pearls in irregular shapes. They are very inspiring and offers some good ideas to develop our jewellery items. I will continue to look around for more offerings. I will also visit Hong Kong International Jewellery Show to find finished jewelery products. It’s good to be able to attend these two important events at the same time. Hong Kong is an amazing city and I am very excited to be here for sourcing.”
Ana Maria Jiménez Llosa, General Manager, Lúcere S.A.C., Peru

"Goldmart Indo is the biggest self-owned modern jewellery retailer in Indonesia. We are running a chain of 35 jewellery shops, mostly located in Jakarta. We used to source loose diamonds through middlemen in our country. Last year, we got an opportunity to visit Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem and Pearl Show for the first time. It turned out to be very successful and we bought some diamonds directly from suppliers for our jewellery collections. That's why we came again this year. So far, we've already identified two to three loose diamond suppliers from India. We will find more suppliers during the fair. We expect to place orders worth between US$50,000 and US$100,000 after studying further the quality of diamonds and price details. The timing of the fair is excellent as we are preparing the launch of new jewellery collections. The show has attracted a lot of exhibitors and visitors and is a good sourcing place for everyone."
Sjarkowi Hanafi, General Manager, Goldmart Indo, Indonesia |
