 "Colombian emeralds are famous for their beauty and quality. We export some US$150 million worth of high quality emeralds to different markets worldwide every year. This is the first time we've organised a Columbia pavilion for Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem and Pearl Show. We have brought together 10 well-known companies from Columbia to exhibit here and promote our emeralds. We are especially interested in expanding our presence in the Chinese mainland, India and Japan. Hong Kong's strategic role will certainly facilitate our development in the Chinese mainland and the region. This is a big fair and everything has been well taken care of.  "By signing the MOU with HKTDC, we aim to establish a framework of cooperation to promote economic growth, encourage business development and enhance trade promotion activities. It will also strengthen the economic partnership between Myanmar and Hong Kong. Jewellery trading is very important to Myanmar's economy. The export of Myanmar's jadeite and other precious stones accounts for about 10% of our total commodity export. If we can produce high quality value-added jewellery, our export earniings and trade volume will be much higher. Myanmar has rich resources of high quality gemstones but does not have enough technology and technical knowhow to produce value-added jewellery. Hong Kong possesses high technology related to this industry, extensive market information, marketing experiences and financial resources. When we combine these resources from Myanmar and Hong Kong, it will surely be a win-win partnership. That's why we need to enhance and
reinforce the cooperation between Myanmar and Hong Kong in jewellery trade."

| The 32nd edition of HKTDC Hong Kong International Jewellery Show will take place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from 4-8 March 2015, providing a dedicated trading platform for finished jewellery. Buyers with validated HKTDC Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show admission badges can use the same badge to visit the concurrent Jewellery Show. Complimentary shuttle bus is available between the two venues during the overlapping period (4-6 March 2015). |
