“Italy has the largest-ever participation at the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show, with more than 180 Italian exhibitors showcasing the latest jewellery designs, machinery and technology. Total exports of Italian jewellery to the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong taken together mean that the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong have become the third largest export destination for Italian jewellery. The Hong Kong show provides a perfect platform for Italian jewellery manufacturers to expand their business on the Chinese mainland and in Asia. That’s why the number of exhibitors at this year’s show has increased by 25 per cent. To promote Italian jewellery, trend seminars and jewellery parades will be held during the fair period.”
Giovanni Sacchi, Director, Coordination Office of Promotional Activities, Italian Trade Agency, Italy |
“We are a long-term exhibitor at the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show. Just on the first day of the fair, responses from buyers have been very good and we have already received orders. The show also offers an excellent opportunity for us to announce the launch of new collections and the latest business developments. It helps us to increase publicity because many international buyers as well as many local and overseas journalists attend the show. Today, we are pleased to announce that our company and Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group Limited have entered into an exclusive distributorship for the Greater China region, and Chow Tai Fook will soon launch a new line of diamond products using our patented Coronet design. ”

“Isetan is a leading department store in Japan with annual sales turnover reaching 250 billion yen. Last year, jewellery sales, which represented 4 per cent of our sales turnover, grew by 35% year-on-year because we offer more new designs. I started to source jewellery products at the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show seven years ago. Since then, I attend this show every year to look for new designs and to catch up with the latest trends. This year I am particularly looking for fine jewellery decorated with diamonds, coloured gemstones and semi-precious stones. Quality is very important. I am happy to see that the show is getting better and better. I can always find reliable suppliers here and place orders."
Hideaki Shimura, Buyer, Jewelry & Watches Division, Isetan Mitsukoshi Ltd., Japan |

“Joyeria Elcorreo operates seven retail outlets in Argentina including three jewellery shops and four watch shops and also produces finished jewellery. Our jewellery shops mainly sell gold, diamond and silver jewellery. I have come to Hong Kong for the first time to visit both the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show and the Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show. I am looking for diamond and gold jewellery and loose diamonds. It’s the biggest show that I have ever visited. I have found good products with good prices. So far, I have placed orders with three suppliers including US$20,000 worth of diamond jewellery and US$10,000 worth of loose diamonds.”

“The Hong Kong fair has been growing and getting increasingly important year by year for the industry. It provides a good platform to meet with global customers including buyers from Europe, Russia and the Middle East. There is also strong demand for our loose diamonds from buyers of emerging markets in Asia such as Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Burma and the Philippines. We have been very busy and received overwhelming responses from customers this year. The fair also allows us to acquire new customers and they keep on coming back to place orders. We are happy with the results. We are trying to get even more exhibition space to increase our presence at the fair.”
Mr Gaston D’Aquino, Marketing Director, M.I.D. (HK) Limited, Hong Kong

“We are exhibiting here because this is one of the biggest trade events for diamonds, gems and pearls in the world. The fair serves as an important platform for industry players. For people interested in business development, it makes perfect sense to come to Hong Kong and explore opportunities. Leopard Gems specialises in the sale of colour and semi-precious stones with major markets like USA and France. This is an excellent fair. We have sold many stones to existing customers as well as new buyers including those from Chinese mainland, Taiwan, Hong Kong and the Philippines. The AsiaWorld-Expo is also a good location for all traders to get together and do business.”
Mr Jenya Bilousov, Owner, Leopard Gems, Ukraine

“EVE Group is engaged in apparel and jewellery businesses. The jewellery wholesale and retailing business operates through our subsidiary EVE Joyerias y Reloyes (EVE Jewelry & Watches) with two retail stores in Bueno Aires. We are sourcing small diamonds mainly through suppliers from Europe to make our jewellery collections. The Hong Kong fair provides a good channel to source diamonds from new suppliers. I have found some appealing diamonds with six new suppliers from Chinese mainland, Israel and India. They will provide price quotations for my requirements. If negotiation goes well, my partner will come and look at the quality of diamonds again. The amount of orders will be over US$100,000.”
Mr Ezequiel Saorin Cleland, Director, EVE Group, Argentina |
“In business for 25 years, Marianne’s Jewellers has been providing unique pearl jewellery items for customers. I am visiting the Hong Kong fair to find new suppliers of pearls to enrich our offerings such as necklaces, earrings and pendants. So far, I’ve met with 10 potential suppliers and are comparing the prices and quality of their pearls. I am prepared to spend about US$17,000 for initial orders. This is a huge fair with a comprehensive range of exhibits on display. The Hong Kong fair is a must-go event for me every year because I can find different types of pearls all under one roof here. It makes no sense to go elsewhere.”
Ms Monique Houston-McMillan, Buyer, Marianne’s Jewellers, South Africa |
