Mr Wallace Chan, Top-class International Jewellery Design Master
Nature Conceives I Create Powering Jewellery into Art
Mr Wallace Chan is recognized internationally as the only Chinese jewellery sculptor of revolutionary design and unique technique. He spent his early youth mastering Eastern sculpture and the Western art of gemstone making. After twenty years of sculpting work, he hit the road to Europe to indulge in the art world of the continent. He acquired the cameo and intaglio techniques, forged them into a unique carving style, and christened it "Wallace Cut". Year 2001 opened the new chapter of jewellery creation for him. He exploited facet lighting, colors, metallurgy, and ergonomics to give form to his Zen-stimulated mind. Defying geometry, he now elongates, distorts and shortens shapes in pursuit of fluidity. With materials resisting a creative idea, being uncombinable, he marries them chemically. Technical wizardry, lifelike realism, deconstructed design, simple elegance. Time and again, Wallace has defined and redefined the jewellery world, transforming the making of jewellery, and its appreciation, into art.
